Marma Chikitsa is a traditional Kerala therapeutic practice centered around the body’s vital points, known as Marma points. Traditionally associated with Ayurveda and Kalari Chikitsa, Marma therapy reflects the deep understanding of the relationship between physical structure, energy and movement within Kerala’s healing traditions. Oil therapy, known as Snehana, forms an important part of many traditional Marma practices. Warm, medicated oils may be applied to the body and specific areas, followed by traditional massage techniques focusing on selected Marma points and areas of concern.
